La integración de Latinoamérica y el Caribe cierra su año fundacional La Comunidad de Estados Latinoamericanos y Caribeños (CELAC) completará su año fundacional con la Primera Cumbre de Jefes de Estado y de Gobierno del foro, que agrupa a 33 Estados americanos. Bajo la presidencia Pro Tempore de Chile, anfitrión de la reunión cumbre el 27 y 28 de enero de 2013, el mecanismo ha conseguido establecer los mecanismos de diálogo interno y con otras regiones del mundo, levantando una voz sólida e integrada. La Cumbre rendirá cuentas del cumplimiento de la Declaración de Caracas 2011, que fijó entre sus prioridades la generación mancomunada de medidas de resguardo ante la crisis económica global; la complementación de los mecanismos regionales y subregionales de integración, y la generación de programas concretos de combate al hambre y la pobreza, la protección del medio ambiente y el cuidado del migrante. Al término de la Cumbre en Santiago de Chile, Cuba recibirá la presidencia Pro Tempore de CELAC.

Latin American and Caribbean integration closes its founding year The Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) will complete its founding year with the first CELAC Summit of Heads of State and of Government, which brings together 33 States. Under the Presidency Pro Tempore of Chile, host of the Summit to take place on 27 and 28 January 2013, the mechanism has managed to establish dialogue within the forum and with other regions of the world, raising a strong and integrated voice. The Summit will give an account of its compliance with the 2011 Caracas Declaration that set forth among its priorities the joint generation of safeguarding measures vis-à-vis the global economic crisis; the complementarity of regional and subregional integration mechanisms, and the generation of specific programmes in the fight against hunger and poverty, environmental protection and the care of migrants. Upon conclusion of the Santiago Summit, Cuba will receive the Presidency Pro Tempore of CELAC.
