Latinoamérica y el Caribe como aliados de Europa en pos de su recuperación económica

El 26 y 27 de enero se reunirán en Santiago de Chile los Jefes de Estado y de Gobierno de los 60 países que forman parte de la Comunidad de Estados Latinoamericanos y Caribeños (CELAC) y de la Unión Europea (UE), más los Presidentes del Consejo Europeo y la Comisión Europea.

El tema central de esta primera Cumbre CELAC-UE será: “Alianza para un Desarrollo Sustentable: Promoviendo Inversiones de Calidad Social y Ambiental”.

Aunque la cita continúa el próspero diálogo de seis cumbres anteriores entre los Estados de América Latina y Caribe con la Unión Europea, los primeros se presentan por primera vez bajo un alero común, la CELAC.

También de manera inédita, la reunión de líderes en Santiago incorporará a su diálogo las conclusiones del trabajo de los múltiples foros de la Sociedad Civil y se realizará una Cumbre de Poderes Judiciales de ambas regiones, con lo que los tres poderes del Estado estarán incorporados en la alianza birregional.

Latin America and the Caribbean as allies of the European Union in pursuit of its economic recovery

On 26 and 27 January the Heads of State and Government of the 61 countries that make up the Community of Latin American & Caribbean States (CELAC) and the European
Union (EU) will gather in Santiago de Chile with the Presidents of the European Council and the European Commission.
The central theme of the first CELAC-EU Summit will be: “Alliance for Sustainable
Development: Promoting Social and Environmental Quality Investments”.
Although the summit will continue the thriving dialogue of the six previous summits between the Latin American and Caribbean States and the European Union, this is the first time that the Latin American and the Caribbean regions gather under the same umbrella, CELAC.
It is also the first time that all three branches of government will participate in this bi-regional partnership. The summit of leaders in Santiago will hear the bi-regional recommendations established by multiple Civil Society forums and the Judicial Power Summit.
